The Antennae Galaxies.

Two spiral galaxies, drawn together by gravity, started to interact a few hundred million years ago. The Antennae Galaxies are the nearest and youngest examples of a pair of colliding galaxies. They are currently going through a starburst phase, in which the collision of clouds of gas and dust, with entangled magnetic fields, causes rapid star formation.

- Galaxy Triplet Arp 274
To celebrate the 100 Hours of Astronomy, the people working on the Hubble Space Telescope decided to let the public decide of what the telescope will take a picture. This vote, called Hubble's Next Discovery - You Decide, closed on March 1, and consisted...

- Hercules Cluster Of Galaxies, 450 Mly Away
The image contains about 30 galaxies in Hercules cluster of galaxies. In the middle the NGC 6050/IC 1179 (Arp 272) is a remarkable collision between two spiral galaxies. The galaxy cluster is part of the Great Wall of clusters and superclusters, the largest...
